A 17-year-old Charlotte Schools student was shot Wednesday afternoon in east Charlotte, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department reported.
According to CMS, a Rocky River High School student was shot after getting off the bus on Lanza Drive.
The bus had already driven off from the area before the shooting occurred, the district said. No other students were reported harmed.
According to a statement by CMPD, shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the shooting and MEDIC transported the student to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.
