Atrium Health and Ascent Housing opened its first apartment-based virtual care clinic on Thursday afternoon.
The clinic is located at Peppertree Apartments on Central Avenue in east Charlotte and is available for use by both residents and non-residents.
The goal of the virtual care clinic is to eliminate barriers to accessing healthcare in vulnerable communities.
“With this virtual care location, we are taking a step toward closing the gap in health care access and making it easier for our patients to get the care they need and deserve,” Kinneil Coltman, executive vice president, chief community and social impact officer of Advocate Health — part of Atrium Health – said.
Patients can visit a primary or specialty care provider using telehealth for health exams and to discuss treatment plans as needed.
The clinic will also provide on-site testing for various infections, including Covid and strep throat.
A healthcare technician will also be available in person to assist with visits.
Patients must be insured, but financial help may be available for those uninsured.
The clinic will be open for walk-ins on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
